Student Innovators
(Hub Members)

Join a hands-on program where curiosity meets impact. Work in teams to tackle real community challenges, prototype solutions, and grow your skills in creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving—while gaining mentorship and experience that prepare you for the future.

Who It’s For

  • Junior Cohort: Grades 6–8
  • Senior Cohort: Grades 9–12

  • University Cohort: Years 1–4 (college/university)

Time Commitment

3–4 hrs/week for 8–12 weeks (team sessions)

Format

In-person in the Maker Studio, with optional hybrid check-ins.

  • Curious minds who want to learn, explore, and grow by doing.
  • Team players who care about making their community more inclusive.

What You’ll Do

Discover

Choose a real community challenge with cohort partner(s).

Define & Plan

Scope the problem and set a measurable target.

Prototype

Build/test early versions (hardware, code, data, design).

Pilot

Run a small trial in the real world and gather evidence.

Share & Iterate

Present outcomes; improve or hand off for scale.

What You’ll Gain

Eligibility & Selection

  • Curiosity and reliability matter more than prior experience.
  • Commit to the schedule and follow safety guidelines and the code of conduct.

Cost & Access

  • Program fee: $100/month (project materials extra at cost)
  • Financial aid available — access matters, just ask

Step 1

Submit your application

Complete the short form with your name, grade, school, contact info, interests, availability, accessibility needs (optional), and a brief note on why you want to join (≤100 words). Parent/guardian consent is required.

Step 2

Fit chat (15 minutes)

We’ll contact you within 7 days of receiving your application to schedule a brief fit chat (Zoom or in person) to align interests, schedules, and safety requirements.

Step 3

Confirm your spot

If selected, you’ll receive a confirmation with cohort assignment, schedule, and next steps (orientation, forms, materials list, and fee/financial-aid details).
